Joao Almeida won the 16th stage of the Giro d'Italia on Tuesday at the top of Monte Bondone. Geraint Thomas is now 18 seconds ahead of his Portuguese rival in the overall standings.
The two men should fight for the final victory on Sunday in Rome in the company of Primoz Roglic. Bruno Armirail, sublimated by the pink jersey, conceded more than four minutes to logically lose his leader's jersey that he wore with pride for two stages.
