French tennis player Hugo Gaston was fined 144,000 euros ($155,520) for "unsportsmanlike conduct" in his second-round match at the Madrid Masters 1000. Gaston, the current 108th player in the world, was fined for throwing a ball on the court during a point with the aim of having the referee repeat it.

The player filed an appeal and the fine "will be reduced to 72,000 euro ($77,780) under certain conditions, mainly that Gaston no longer commits such infractions"
