The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Moscow notes China's readiness to make efforts to establish a negotiation process to resolve the situation in Ukraine. On April 7, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that negotiations on a settlement in Ukraine could only be held on the basis of taking into account Russian interests.
The White House said it was unclear whether the conversation between Xi Jinping and Zelensky would give an impetus to peace talks. The Russian Foreign ministry said that it was not clear if the conversation would lead to any progress in the talks.
