The fighter alliance is based on allowing Ukrainian pilots to train on American F-16 fighter jets. German defense minister believes that any potential German contribution to this alliance would be minor.

Experts believe that Germany has convincing reasons in this round to reject the alliance. The German government has already given 2.7 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine since the war broke out in April 2014, according to the German Ministry of Defense. The aid includes the Iris T air defense system, armored vehicles, Mars 2 guns, troop carriers and ammunition.
