Aurora 23 is the largest exercise in Sweden in three decades, with 26,000 people from Sweden and 14 other countries participating. One of the main points is to practice how to receive help from other countries and quickly mobilize and hold back until the enemy arrives.

The Home Guard has practiced blocking landing sites on Gotland with the help of British soldiers, and has also practiced attacks in several places in southern Sweden. Even though Sweden is not currently a member of NATO, it is common defense that is expected if an attack should come.
