Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, visiting Berlin, on Sunday praised the support provided by Germany. The Ukrainian president described Germany as a "true friend" and "reliable ally" Germany, which is preparing a new €2.7 billion military aid plan for Ukraine.

The trip comes amid preparations for a Ukrainian army offensive, as Kiev and Moscow both claim successes in and around Bakhmut, in the Donbass region (east) The new German aid package includes dozens of tanks, armoured vehicles, surveillance drones and four new Iris-T air defence systems.
