The New York Stock Exchange opened lower on Tuesday at the start of a meeting of the Federal Reserve. Around 14:00 GMT, the Dow Jones gave up 0.50%, the Nasdaq -0.32% and the broader S&P 500 index - 0.47%.

The day before, the indices had concluded in decline any close balance, after the resolution of a new episode of the banking crisis with the acquisition of First Republic by JPMorgan. Uber jumped 6.78% after reporting results and forecasts exceeding expectations thanks to strong demand for its services.
