CAIR sues U.S. State Department for forcing a Muslim employee to shave his beard.

Devin Brooks demanded that he retain his beard length but was denied permission to do so. He was removed from active duty and later placed on unpaid leave, according to his lawsuit. The Council on American-Islamic Relations says the decision violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination in employment on the basis of religion. The lawsuit seeks compensation for economic, psychological and other damages and fees.
