US President Joe Biden on Sunday again urged the US Congress to ban assault rifles. A gunman opened fire in a shopping mall in Texas, killing eight people, including children.
Six people lost their lives at the scene and two others died in hospital. Texas is one of the most permissive U.S. states when it comes to carrying weapons. With more guns than people, the United States has the highest gun death rate of any developed country. The specialized website Gun Violence Archive has already documented more than 199 acts where four or more people have been wounded or killed by gunfire.
