The Washington Post published the story of a small Sudanese family consisting of a father, mother and two children. The family of 4 packed their bags quickly, there was plenty of time for only the essentials.

The mother, Shiraz Hammad, a dentist, hid her gold jewelry in a consumable pack and handed over the key to her house to a neighbor, without knowing if or when. At least 700,500 people have been displaced and at least 15 civilians killed since the violence began on April.
