The regions are responsible for building up a stockpile of medicines and medical supplies. 13 out of 21 regions do not know which authority is responsible for supervision.

"The regions have demonstrably failed to ensure preparedness for a pandemic," says Lars Rocksén of the Swedish Medical Association. After the pandemic, 19 out of the 21 regions have built up their inventories, but how long stocks will last differs from region to region.. Around half of the regions don't want to disclose the size of the stocks but refer to confidentiality. The regions that respond say that it is between one month to up to six months for protective equipment.
