[HIGHLIGHTS] UN staff arrived in Kherson to assess the situation at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station

U.N. agencies are in Kherson to assess the damage from the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the destruction a barbaric action by Kiev. Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, said earlier that the leadership of the Ukrainian Armed Forces openly announced plans to destroy the power station in 2022. The U.S. State Department said it was working with the Ukrainian government to find a solution to the problem of the damaged power station.
