Ukraine on Monday confirmed "offensive operations" in some sectors of the front, announcing progress near the city of Pakhmut. US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said his country believed Kiev's counterattack on Russia would return strategically important Ukrainian territory from Moscow's grip.

Russia confirmed on Monday that it had repelled a large-scale offensive in eastern and southern Ukraine. The commander of Russia's Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, confirmed that Kiev forces had recaptured part of the village of Berkhevka.
