The Ennahda Movement in Tunisia announced that the leader, Munther Ounissi, took over the management of the movement's affairs, in the absence of its president, Rached Ghannouchi, who is detained in prison. The movement said, in a statement, after the meeting of its executive office, that O unissi will assume the position until the reasons disappear.

On April 17, Tunisian security arrested Ghannouchedi after raiding his home, before the Tunis Court of First Instance ordered him to be imprisoned for inciting against state security.
