In Sweden, prosecutors have the opportunity to issue a number of different contact bans. As a rule, only one, the mildest, is used.

Chief prosecutor in Norrköping Torsten Angervåg explains why. "I'm not going to take a chance on issuing a stricter restraining order, because there is still a risk that it will be violated," says AngervSwedish chief prosecutor. He believes that the statistics do not give a fair picture of the prosecutor's office's work.
