Sudanese intellectual Mohammed Mahjoub Haroun stressed that the main reason for the fighting currently taking place in the country is the weakness of the leadership structure in the state. Haroun expressed his belief that a new era of national politics will take shape in Sudan, expressing the hope that it will be in the right direction and based on a broad-based national consensus.
The presence of a parallel army in one country or within a single sovereignty provided a susceptibility to armed conflicts, he said.
