The Russian subsidiary of the Auchan group has been targeted by a judicial investigation since 2020. The investigation was opened by the national financial prosecutor's office, in particular for corruption of foreign public money.
The investigations were launched after an article in the daily Les Échos in 2020 that revealed a system of corruption in the group's Russian subsidiary. The amount of the damage would amount each year to between 80 and 100 million euros, or 2% to 3% of the turnover made in Russia by the supermarket chain.
