"There is a 98% probability that at least one of the next five years, and the five-year period 2023-2027 as a whole, will be the warmest on record," the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) warns. The 2015 Paris Agreement aims to limit the increase in global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels from 1850 to 1900.

"The repercussions on health, food security, water management and the environment will be considerable," says the WMO.
