Western sanctions against individual countries hinder their achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the imposition of illegal sanctions is damaging the international legal system.
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, supported the idea of creating an anti-sanctions club of countries to combat illegal restrictions imposed by Western states. The UN summit on sustainable development goals, scheduled for September 2023 on the sidelines of the General Assembly, should become a platform for an honest discussion of the problems of the negative impact of sanctions.
