Turkey's presidential and parliamentary elections took place at a time of severe economic crisis. The results of the elections paint a picture of a highly polarized society.

In foreign policy, a continuation of the personalist measures of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected. Erdogan's party, the Islamist AKP, has lost almost thirty seats compared to the previous elections, but maintains the majority in the hemicycle thanks to a coalition with far-right and Islamist parties. It reached a majority of 322 seats, far from the 360 needed to approve constitutional changes, which will force it to try to make alliances with opposition parties.
