Allied with the ruling conservative party, the anti-immigration Sweden Democrats party, is threatening to blow up the majority if Swedish MEPs do not block the text. The threat, however, looks like blackmail, observes our correspondent in Stockholm, Carlotta Morteo.
Minister Ebba Busch, number 2 in the government, immediately wanted to extinguish the fire, recalling that her government wants to contain immigration in the country as much as possible. The text in question provides in particular for a mandatory solidarity mechanism towards Member States facing migratory pressure.
