The prison Sörbyn in Hörnefors outside Umeå is being expanded. The idea was to expand with three new buildings and a total of 144 new places for inmates.

But now one of the three planned expansions is skipped – due to increasingly expensive overheads. Despite this, they will receive as many prisoners as planned, with half of the new beds being double-occupancy. The union sees problems with the solution, saying there will be problems for the inmates and more conflicts.
