Coronation of Charles III will take place in London on Saturday, May 6. Ceremony will be more inclusive than previous consecrations.

2,300 handpicked guests – foreign leaders, crowned heads, elected officials, representatives of civil society – will be present. Cost of the event has been estimated by the press at between 100 million and 114 million euros plus security costs. The service will also be shorter: it will last one hour compared to nearly three hours 70 years ago. "The new monarch really wanted to focus on democratizing the ritual," says Ed Owens.
