Researchers say Arctic could be deprived of sea ice in summer as early as the 2030s. A serious consequence since this ice plays a very important role during this season by reflecting the sun's rays.

The Arctic Ocean covers an area of about 14 million square kilometres and is covered by ice for most of the year. The disappearance of ice "will accelerate Arctic warming, which can increase extreme weather events in mid-latitudes, such as heat waves and wildfires," says one of the authors of the study.
