Algerian political opponent and figure of the pro-democracy movement Hirak, Karim Tabbou, was arrested Tuesday evening (May 23rd) at his home and placed in police custody. Karim Tabou was able to inform his family of his arrest, but his relatives are still waiting for the date of his presentation before the Attorney General.

He served a one-year prison sentence between 2020 and 2021 for endangering national security, because of a video in which he criticized the military's interference in political affairs.
