Robert Shonoff, a former employee of the U.S. Embassy in Russia, has been charged with collaborating on a confidential basis.

Shonov was detained in Vladivostok. He was charged with committing a crime under Article 275.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia. Earlier, the White House admitted the possibility of a limited easing of anti-Russian sanctions for the exchange of Americans imprisoned in Russia. Also, the head of the State Department, Anthony Blinken, said that the United States is in contact with Russia on the issue of prisoners.
