The voice of Al-Hafiz Khalil Ismail was never fleeting, as he left its mark in the conscience of Iraqis for many decades. He accompanied them in their religious Ramadan and occasions, and in their sorrows and memories.

He won the title of Hafiz in 1942, when the radio conducted a test for reciters. He has a unique way of moving between melodies, so that the competent listener forgets their names and is unable to classify them during the recitation.
