Sudan's military said it had agreed to an IGAD initiative to extend the truce for an additional 72 hours. South Sudan's president presented both sides of Sudan's conflict with a proposal for dialogue inside or outside the country.

Since April 15, a number of states in Sudan have witnessed large-scale clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, killing and wounding hundreds of people. US State Department said on Wednesday it was in contact with regional and international partners to form a negotiating committee in Sudan.
