Negotiations are still ongoing in the Sudanese conflict. Delegations of the army commanded by General al-Burhan and the RSF paramilitaries of General Hemedti are in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The dialogue has so far "not recorded major progress", and a ceasefire "is not on the agenda", because "each side believes it is able to win the battle", a diplomat told AFP. The Arab League on Monday (May 8th) set up a ministerial contact group to try to secure a lasting ceasefire.
