The conflict in Sudan between armed forces and paramilitary forces has entered its third week. The ceasefires are still linked there on May 2, 2023.
Several initiatives of the international community are trying to find a solution to the Sudanese crisis. The most promising initiative is that of the Americans and Saudi Arabia, observers say. But observers add, the two Sudanese generals seem determined to settle their rivalry by force on the ground. The UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Sudan, Volker Perthes, announced that both sides had agreed to send representatives to open negotiations.
