The head of humanitarian affairs of the United Nations, Martin Griffiths, visited Saudi Arabia on Sunday to discuss the access of aid to Sudan. He met with emissaries from the army and paramilitaries of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) who are negotiating a truce after three weeks of deadly fighting.

The army, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhane, and the RSF of rival General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo say nothing about the talks. The UN speaks of 335,000 displaced persons and 117,000 refugees.
