In Sudan, civilian evacuation operations continue, as fighting between the army and paramilitaries has entered its third week. Nearly 5,000 people, the vast majority of them foreign nationals, have already been evacuated by Saudi Arabia since last week.

Violence is particularly intense in Darfur, a region already torn apart by war in the 2000s. Since 15 April, fighting has left more than 500 people dead and 4,000 wounded, according to the UN, with 75,000 displaced by the fighting.
