Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia have been generous with Sudan since 2019. The three countries are now working behind the scenes to support either of the two warring parties.

Their interests are currently contradicting each other on the Sudanese ground. The UAE is sending thousands of men to fight in Yemen alongside Saudi Emir in the war against the Houthi rebels. It is also selling Sudan's state-owned gold to the Emirates and Russia at preferential rates. For more than a decade, they have developed their economic presence in the Horn of Africa.
