Since the morning of Saturday, April 15, the Sudanese capital Khartoum has been the scene of clashes between General al-Burhan's regular army and the paramilitaries of Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo's Rapid Support Forces. Since 9:30 this morning, fighting has been taking place around strategic sites in the capital with heavy, uninterrupted light and heavy weapon fire.

The two generals at the head of the country, since the fall of Omar al-Bashir, were for weeks at knives drawn. Together they had led a coup against the civilian government in October 2021.
