A recent study says that electromagnetic fields emitted by electricity towers negatively affect bee pollination activity for flowers. Bee pollination for flowers is an essential environmental service, pollinating one-third of global food crop production, contributing $353 billion to the global economy each year.

The study suggests that we need a systematic and practical plan to avoid or minimize the overlap of urban structures such as large electric towers with bee activity. There is also an urgent need to mitigate the impact of such urban structures on bees, especially as bees face many challenges globally such as habitat loss and diseases.
