Saudi Arabia and Canada announced on Wednesday that they would appoint new ambassadors and resume diplomatic relations after being suspended following a dispute in 2018. The Saudi Foreign Ministry said that in light of talks between Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last November, it was decided to restore the level of diplomatic relations between Riyadh and Ottawa to their previous status.

For its part, the Canadian Foreign Ministry affirmed the consensus on the return of relations with Saudi Arabia to the previous era.Canada's foreign minister announced that each country would appoint ambassadors to each other.
