Swedish government expelled five Russian diplomats from Sweden on Tuesday. Russia may in return expel Swedish diplomats from Moscow.

This could pose problems for Sweden since the number of Swedish diplomats in Russia is few. There are at least 21 suspected Russian spies in Sweden in Sweden, of which 13 are still active. Several of them work at the Russian Embassy in Sweden.. Norway expelled 15 Russian diplomats, Russia responded with an "act of revenge" and expelled 10 Norwegian diplomats. Sweden has significantly lower staffing at its embassies than Russia.
