Russian forces destroyed 28 tanks, including eight German Leopard tanks and three French tanks, in Donetsk. Russian air defenses intercepted air targets over the Russian city of Belgorod near the Ukrainian border for the second time on Monday.
U.S. officials said the Ukrainian counteroffensive was believed to be underway and had made gains in northern and southern Bakhamout. Ukrainian army announced a large-scale operation, noting that Russia's inability to know the direction of the counterattack keeps its army prepared.
