Russia's Defense Ministry says it repelled an attack on the Russian border region with armored vehicles on Monday. More than 70 "Ukrainian nationalists" were killed, prompting the rest to return to Ukraine.
Two allegedly anti-Kremlin armed groups said they were behind the attack in Russia's Belgorod region bordering Ukraine. Ukraine denied any involvement in the attack, and Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar said it was a "Russian internal crisis" Russia's Deputy Chairman of Russia's National Security Council Dmitry Medvedev has hinted at an increased hypothesis of a nuclear apocalypse.
