In the Rusafa women's prison in Iraq, 500 prisoners, including 40 Russian women, went on a mass hunger strike. Among them are also citizens of Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Syria, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

They were sentenced to terms up to life for aiding terrorism and illegally crossing the border. "We demand that our cases be reconsidered in court, that the innocent be released and that we be repatriated to our states," one of the prisoners told RT. In early May, diplomats are going to visit prisoners.
