Rita Barrenechea y Morante is Countess of Carpio and Marchioness of La Solana. The portrait was painted by Goya, which passed from the collection of the Marquis of Socorro to the Parisian collection of Carlos de Beistegui, who would donate it definitively, in 1942, to the Louvre Museum.

Rita was reputed to be an awake and ingenious woman, a great friend of Jovellanos, whom the Aragonese artist had portrayed.
