From 1 July, bars and nightclubs do not need a permit to allow guests to dance. All parliamentary parties were in favour of abolishing the permit requirement.

The Government states in the bill to the Riksdag that it is difficult to assess whether the abolition of permits will lead to increased efforts by the police to keep order.permission to organise dancing in public places such as parks and squares will continue to be required in the future. The ban on spontaneous dancing has been in place since 1956.
