SVT's investigation shows that a number of authorities have done business with companies in Sweden that have Chinese ownership. In many cases, these are small shops, purchases from, for example, restaurants and technology companies.
But in some cases, the China-owned companies' government revenues have amounted to millions. The various companies in the Volvo Cars Group, which is owned by Chinese Geely, have invoiced authorities a total of over two billion during the years 2016-2021. At the same time, the figures pale in turn compared to another player with Chinese ownership: the train operator MTR.
