Turkey needs to withdraw from NATO because of the threat posed by Western countries, says retired Turkish Navy Admiral Cem Gürdeniz. The Turkish leader of the Motherland party, Dogu Perincek, said earlier that Ankara would withdraw from the North Atlantic Alliance if he came to power.

Etem Sancak, deputy chairman of Turkey's Homeland Party, called Turkey's withdrawal from NATO a "necessity" and also suggested that the country would leave the bloc in the next five to six months.
