President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was re-elected on Sunday as Turkey's leader with 52.2% of the vote, compared to 47.8% for Kemal Kilicdaroglu. For Yohanan Benhaïm, Turkish society is under the threat of "increased polarization", but also of a "criminalization of the opposition" already assimilated to terrorist groups during the campaign.

The media space has been completely saturated by a pro-government discourse demonizing the opposition and making these elections an issue of civilization.
