The port of Gamleby has been closed since 2019 due to the risk of collapse. In order to determine how to save the port, new geotechnical investigations are needed.

The first part of the assignment is planned to start in early May and will be completed during the year. The work includes field and laboratory investigations, stability calculations, assessment of the status of existing structures and proposals for feasible reinforcement measures to minimize landslide and collapse risks, says Rickard Ljunggren, land and development engineer at Västervik municipality.
