Former Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo arrived in Lima on Sunday morning, April 23. Accused of receiving tens of millions of dollars in bribes from the Brazilian company Odebrecht, he must now serve 18 months in prison pending the start of his trial.

He faces up to 20 years in prison. The 77-year-old former president had exhausted all possible appeals against this decision. He is also accused of money laundering by using his mother-in-law as a front man.
