Imran Khan appeared before a court in Lahore to answer charges of planning violence. His lawyers said they were seeking information about new cases linking him to the confrontations that erupted after his arrest.
Khan arrived at the court accompanied by his wife Bushra Bibi, who is also implicated in the corruption case. The detention of Khan sparked violent clashes in several Pakistani cities between his supporters and security forces, killing nine protesters and arresting thousands. He says he is being subjected to judicial harassment pushed by the government and the military to prevent his return to power.
