Petteri Orpo, chairman of the National Coalition Party, has been appointed as the government sounding board. Orpo is negotiating with the True Finns, the Swedish People's Party and the Christian Democrats to form Finland's next government.

The parties' views differ on weighty issues such as immigration, EU membership and the environment, which can lead to difficulties in governing together. "We have big challenges, but with this combination we are not facing the impossible," Orpo said at a press conference.
