A 68-year-old patient died of smoke poisoning this Sunday morning when his room burned on the fifth floor of the Clinical Hospital of San Carlos, in the Madrid district of Moncloa. The fire originated in the room of the deceased man for reasons not yet clarified.
The patient was alone at the time and it is suspected that he may have intentionally caused the fire. 17 patients were evacuated from that plant and 24 people needed medical attention when they were slightly injured. All those assisted in the emergency services of the health center and discharged on site.
